19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an improved serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to create a decider.

He rescued four early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
